What it means for shareholders

A Rs 5 dividend on a Rs 13.60 quarterly profit means OGDCL is paying out a little over a third of what it earned. For a holder of 1,000 shares that is Rs 5,000 before tax. Cash dividends from listed companies carry withholding tax at source; check what is deducted from your payout with our income tax calculator and the rules for your filer status.

The results land in a week when the KSE-100 index has been drifting close to 167,000 points. Energy stocks such as OGDCL, PPL and Mari are among the heaviest weights in the index, so their quarterly results move the market as a whole.
