OGDC starts gas from Bitrism East-1 in Khairpur: 7 mmscfd and 200 barrels of condensate a day into SSGC's network
The exploratory well found a year ago is now producing through a 28 km flowline to the Sinjhoro plant. OGDC owns 77.5% of the licence and GHPL the rest.
OGDC (Oil and Gas Development Company Limited) has started production from its Bitrism East-1 exploratory well in Khairpur district, Sindh, at 7 million standard cubic feet of gas a day (mmscfd) and 200 barrels of condensate a day, ProPakistani reported on Friday 23 October 2026.

What 7 mmscfd means
Seven mmscfd is a modest addition to Sindh's supply, but it goes straight into Sui Southern Gas Company's system, which serves Sindh and Balochistan, and every unit of local gas is one Pakistan does not have to import as LNG at a time when Brent crude is above $110 a barrel (see our oil price story).
The well was drilled to test the Massive and Basal Sands of the Lower Goru Formation; it is the Basal Sands that are producing.
For OGDC shareholders
OGDC is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange and is one of the heaviest stocks in the KSE-100, which you can follow on our KSE-100 page. With a 77.5% working interest, OGDC keeps most of the output; the state-owned GHPL holds the rest. The company did not give a reserves estimate or revenue figure for the well in this announcement.
For gas consumers
A new well in Sindh does not change your bill: consumer gas prices are notified by OGRA and the federal government. Our gas bill calculator works out a monthly SNGPL or SSGC bill on the current slabs.
