Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur has cancelled the records of 1,184 LLB candidates and declared every result, transcript, provisional certificate and degree based on them void, according to a university notification dated 16 October 2026 that was first reported by ProPakistani.

An inquiry committee set up by the university's Syndicate concluded that the records had been entered into the system without lawful authority and were not part of SALU's academic record.

A list of the candidates and the affiliated law colleges they were enrolled through, including colleges in Jacobabad, Kandhkot and Kashmore, is attached to the notification.

How the university got here

  • 11 April 2026: the Syndicate, at its 92nd meeting, passed resolutions setting up the inquiry.
  • July 2026: SALU issued a final public notice giving affected candidates 15 days to submit proof that their records were genuine.
  • 16 October 2026: the cancellation notification was issued after the committee found the disputed records unlawful.

Copies have gone to the Higher Education Commission, the Pakistan Bar Council, and the Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan bar councils, as well as to the principals of the affiliated colleges. Lawyers' licences are issued by the provincial bar councils, so any action on a licence based on a cancelled degree is now for them. Media reports say SALU cancelled 1,280 LLB degrees last year.

What it means if you hold a SALU law degree

  1. Check the list. The list of affected candidates is attached to the notification on the university's website. If your name is not on it, your degree is not affected by this decision.
  2. Keep your originals. Keep your admission letter, fee receipts, roll number slips and marks sheets. They are the evidence of a genuine enrolment.
  3. Verify through HEC. HEC degree attestation is the standard check employers and bar councils rely on.
  4. Get legal advice before you act. Anyone who believes a genuine record was cancelled can challenge the decision; the notification itself is the document to take to a lawyer.

If you are studying now and want to track your own record, our CGPA calculator works on the HEC 4.0 scale used on university transcripts.
