Why the number is good for DC

Clayface is a lower-budget genre film rather than a full superhero tentpole, directed by James Watkins and starring Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen. Audiences gave it an A- CinemaScore. DC co-chief James Gunn noted on Threads that only a handful of horror films have scored that high, naming Obsession, Weapons and Get Out, with Sinners the only one to get an A.

It also gave the newly merged Paramount and Warner Bros. its second number-one weekend since the merger, Deadline said.

The surprise at number two

A24's three-hour documentary You Can See Everything, on Elizabeth Holmes and with Nathan Fielder, earned more in its second weekend than its first, after going wide to 2,655 cinemas.
