Weather tomorrow (Tuesday 6 October 2026): rain, windstorms and thunderstorms, with hail in places, are forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, northern and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on 6 and 7 October, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday. A westerly wave is behind it, and daytime temperatures are expected to fall by 2 to 4°C. Karachi and the rest of Sindh stay mainly hot and dry, as does most of Balochistan, Dawn reported.

Where rain is forecast on 6 and 7 October

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (from Monday evening to Wednesday): Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram and Waziristan.
  • Islamabad and Punjab (at isolated places): Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad, The Nation reported.
  • Azad Kashmir: Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar.
  • Balochistan: only Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel, on Tuesday evening or night.
  • Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad: mainly hot and dry.

"Isolated" means not every district gets rain: in Lahore and the plains of Punjab, expect scattered storms rather than a wet day.

What to watch out for

The PMD warned that windstorms, hail and lightning may damage weak structures, including the roofs and walls of kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels. If you have panels on the roof, check the mounting bolts before Tuesday, and park away from billboards and trees in a storm. Farmers have been told to plan crop work around the forecast.

The weather lands on a busy week in the north: the PTI convoy is on the road in KP, and Pakistan and Sri Lanka begin practice at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday before the first T20I on Friday 9 October (Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2026). The forecast runs to Wednesday, so Friday's match is not yet covered by it.

Today and tomorrow in your city

Hour-by-hour temperature, rain chance and wind for each city are on our weather pages: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, or all cities. Lahore residents can also track air quality on our AQI Lahore today page, since rain usually brings the AQI down for a day or two.

With power shortfalls in the news this week, a storm can mean longer outages too: our battery backup calculator shows how long a UPS will last on your load.
