The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has demolished structures in six illegal housing schemes along Sundar-Raiwind Road and Multan Road, ProPakistani reported on Monday 12 October. LDA teams knocked down boundary walls, site offices, internal roads and other structures that the developers had built without approval.

The six schemes named in the LDA operation

As listed in the report:

#Scheme
1Mashallah Villas (an illegal subdivision near Mal Pind)
2Daman City
3Maraka Marketing
4Maraka Homes
5Maraka City
6New Lahore City

The report did not say which scheme is on which road, how many structures were removed, or how many plots had already been sold.

What the LDA says

LDA officials said the action is meant to stop people putting their savings into illegal housing projects and to enforce the authority's rules. The LDA Director General said operations against illegal housing schemes and unauthorised commercial activity will continue and are being carried out "without discrimination".

What it means if you bought a plot here

The LDA treats these schemes as illegal, and Monday's operation shows that walls and roads built without its approval can be removed. Buyers who have already paid should protect their position now.

  1. Keep every document: the booking form, allotment letter, payment receipts and any advertisement or brochure. These are what you need for a refund claim or a complaint.
  2. Ask the developer in writing for the LDA approval letter and the approved layout plan. A scheme that cannot produce both is not approved.
  3. Check with the LDA directly before paying another instalment. Do not rely on a dealer's word or a social media advert.
  4. Stop instalments until the status is clear, and get legal advice if the developer refuses a refund.

Before you buy anywhere in Lahore

Sundar-Raiwind Road and Multan Road are among the fastest-growing edges of the city, with cheap plots offered on easy instalments. Before booking, confirm the scheme's approval with the LDA, compare plot sizes in marlas and square feet with our plot size converter, and work out the transfer costs with the stamp duty calculator, so you know what a legal purchase really costs.
