Official set or imported set: what PTA tax means for you

  • Official (Mercantile) sets are registered with PTA before sale. The price above is what you pay; the phone works on every network from day one.
  • Imported sets (bought abroad, or a "non-PTA" phone sold locally) must be registered with PTA through its DIRBS system and the tax paid, or the phone stops working on Pakistani networks. The tax depends on the phone's value and on whether you register on a passport or a CNIC. Work out the exact figure for your model with our PTA mobile tax calculator before you buy.
  • Check a phone's status before paying for a used set: check the IMEI on PTA's DIRBS service, as our PTA page explains.

Where to buy an official iPhone 17

Mercantile lists dozens of authorised stores, among them iStore at Cavalry Ground, Lahore, the Jazz Experience Centre at 5-P Gulberg II, Lahore, and the Zong Experience Centre on Mall Road, Lahore, plus dealers in Hafeez Centre and in Multan's Mall Plaza. Ask for the Mercantile warranty card and check that the box's IMEI matches the phone's (dial *#06#).
