The Mobile plan only works on phones and tablets. Netflix says it needs Android 7 or later, Fire OS 6 or later, or iOS/iPadOS 12 or later. It will not play on a TV or a laptop browser, and you cannot cast it to a TV.
Which plan should you take?
- One person, phone only: Mobile, Rs 250. At 480p it also uses the least data, which matters if you watch on a mobile bundle.
- One person who wants a TV or laptop: Basic, Rs 450. It is HD (720p) on any supported device, one screen at a time.
- A couple or a small family: Standard, Rs 800, for two screens at once in Full HD. Split two ways, it is Rs 400 each.
- A family with a 4K TV: Premium, Rs 1,100, for four screens at once. Shared by four people in one household, it is Rs 275 each, about the price of the Mobile plan.
Netflix plans are for one household. Netflix says people who do not live with you can be added as an extra member on some plans for an additional charge, shown in your account settings before you confirm.
Tax on Netflix card payments
Netflix bills in rupees, but the payment still goes to a foreign company, so banks collect tax on it:
- Advance income tax (section 236Y): for people on the Active Taxpayers List, the Finance Act 2026 cut the rate on foreign payments by card to 0.5% for tax year 2027, and a higher rate applies to people who are not on the list, Chartered Advisory explains (25 July 2026). On the Standard plan, 0.5% is Rs 4 a month. It is adjustable: you get it back against your tax when you file a return and claim it. Not a filer yet? Our income tax calculator shows what you would owe.
- Sindh sales tax: since 2024, banks have collected 3% Sindh sales tax on Netflix payments by Sindh cardholders under the Sindh Revenue Board's special procedure rules, The Express Tribune reported on 8 July 2024. On Rs 800, that is Rs 24.
Each bank applies these on its own statement, so the exact deduction can differ slightly from bank to bank. Check your first statement after you subscribe.
How to pay for Netflix in Pakistan
Netflix accepts credit, debit, virtual and prepaid cards on the Visa, Mastercard and American Express networks, according to its payment methods page.
- Go to netflix.com or open the app and choose Sign up.
- Pick a plan from the table above.
- Enter your card. If the payment is declined, open your bank or wallet app and make sure online and international (e-commerce) payments are switched on for that card: many Pakistani cards ship with them turned off.
- Netflix charges you each month until you cancel, and you can change plan from your account settings.
Only pay on netflix.com or inside the official app. Offers of "lifetime" or shared Netflix accounts on WhatsApp and Facebook break Netflix's terms and are a common scam: see the PTA's warnings on courier and OTP scams.
How much data Netflix uses
Higher quality uses more data. If you watch on mobile data rather than Wi-Fi, set Data Usage per Screen in your Netflix account (or Mobile Data Usage in the app) to save data, and download episodes on Wi-Fi to watch offline later. Cheaper legal ways to watch
- The Mobile plan at Rs 250 is the cheapest way into Netflix itself.
- Share Premium within your household: four screens for Rs 1,100.
- Free or cheap local apps: Jazz's Tamasha has live TV, films and dramas from Rs 12 a day, with 1GB free a day on Jazz prepaid: Tamasha app guide.
- Music instead? Apple Music launched in Pakistan at Rs 379 a month: details.
Common mistakes
- Choosing Mobile for a TV. It will not play there; take Basic or higher.
- Using a card with international online payments switched off, then assuming Netflix does not work in Pakistan. It does.
- Forgetting the tax. Budget a few rupees above the plan price each month, more in Sindh.
- Buying shared accounts from resellers. They get locked, and you lose the money.
