The India vs West Indies 5th T20I in Bengaluru ended in no result on Saturday 17 October, so the five-match series finished 2-2. That ends India's run of 12 straight home series wins, a streak that had lasted four years, ESPNcricinfo reported.

What happened

Persistent rain held up the start at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, and its drainage let the teams start as soon as it stopped, in a match cut to nine overs a side. West Indies won the toss and bowled. Only 7.4 overs were possible before the rain returned.

In that time India made 118 for 5:

  • Ishan Kishan 30 off 10 balls, with two sixes
  • Naman Dhir 24 not out off 6 balls, with three sixes
  • Shamar Springer 2 for 17 in 1.4 overs, the best of the West Indies bowlers

West Indies did not bowl Roston Chase, the series' leading wicket-taker. Had a five-over chase been possible, their target would have been 84.

Player of the series: Shai Hope

Shai Hope was named player of the series with 261 runs, including two hundreds: 102 not out in the second T20I, when West Indies chased 250, and 102 off 50 balls in the fourth. ESPNcricinfo's MVP for the series was all-rounder Keemo Paul, who took 5 for 41 in the fourth match.

It rounds off a strong tour for West Indies, who also chased 350 in the third ODI even though India won that series 2-1.

Bhuvneshwar's wait goes on

The washout also cost Bhuvneshwar Kumar his first international game since 2022, after he was called up for the decider. He flies with the squad to New Zealand, where India play five T20Is next.
