Dry fruit prices in Quetta: pistachio up to Rs 5,000 a kg, chilgoza Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 as winter arrives
Almonds now cost Rs 3,200 a kg and cashews Rs 4,500, shopkeepers say, with prices up 30% to 40% this year.

Dry fruit prices in Quetta have jumped as winter sets in: pistachios now sell for up to Rs 5,000 a kg, against Rs 3,000 last year, and chilgoza (pine nuts) for Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 a kg, ProPakistani reported on Monday 26 October 2026, citing shopkeepers in the city.
Dry fruit rates in Quetta today
| Dry fruit | Price now (per kg) | Earlier | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pistachio (pista) | up to Rs 5,000 | Rs 3,000 last year | up to Rs 2,000 |
| Almonds (badam) | Rs 3,200 | about Rs 2,000 | up Rs 1,200 |
| Cashews (kaju) | Rs 4,500 | Rs 3,000 | up Rs 1,500 |
| Pine nuts (chilgoza) | Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 | not given |
Shopkeepers told ProPakistani that prices have risen 30% to 40% this year, some varieties more steeply, and that prices which used to change once a year now change within days.
Why prices are up
The report links the rise to the seasonal jump in demand as the weather turns cold. It did not give other causes such as supply or import costs, and the prices are shopkeepers' figures rather than an official survey, so rates in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad will differ.
What a winter pack costs
At these rates, a mixed half-kilo pack of 250 grams each of almonds and cashews comes to about Rs 1,925 (Rs 800 for the almonds and Rs 1,125 for the cashews). Adding 250 grams of pistachios at the top price adds another Rs 1,250.
Before you buy
Rates change within days, so ask two or three shops for their price per kg before buying, and check the grade, since bigger nuts cost more. If you are comparing with prices in the Gulf or the UK, the currency converter turns dirhams, riyals or pounds into rupees at today's rate.
