Lahore heavy traffic timings: trucks, trailers and tractor-trolleys banned 7am to 11pm, cases for violators

Heavy vehicles can enter Lahore only between 11pm and 7am, and the city traffic police will now register cases against anyone who drives them in during the banned daytime hours, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi said on Sunday 18 October, ARY News reported.

The timings

Heavy traffic is "completely banned during daytime hours", the CTO said. Entry is being allowed in phases at night, and operators who run heavy vehicles in the restricted hours will face cases, not just a fine. The CTO said the aim is to prevent accidents and make roads safer.

The announcement did not name specific roads or say what the oil tanker timings are; we will add them if the traffic police publish them.

• Transporters and contractors: plan deliveries of sand, bricks and steel to arrive after 11pm. A trolley caught on a Lahore road at midday can now mean a police case against the operator.
