Spotify audiobooks in Pakistan: Rs 489 a month for 15 hours of listening
Spotify has switched on audiobooks for Pakistani users, free and Premium alike. Here is what Rs 489 buys, what a top-up costs and how to start listening.
Spotify audiobooks are now live in Pakistan. Since 4 November 2026, Spotify users here can subscribe to Audiobooks+, which gives 15 hours of listening a month for Rs 489, and choose from more than 100,000 English-language titles, The Express Tribune reported on Thursday.
The add-on is open to both Free and Premium users, so you do not need a paid music plan to start.
Spotify audiobooks price in Pakistan
| Option | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Audiobooks+ monthly | Rs 489 | 15 hours of listening, renews every month |
| Top-up | Rs 579 | 10 more hours in the same month |
| Single book | Price per title | Keep one book without a subscription |
Unused hours do not roll over: the 15-hour allowance resets at the start of each billing cycle.
Run the numbers and the subscription works out to about Rs 33 an hour of listening, while the top-up costs about Rs 58 an hour. A typical novel narrated in 10 to 12 hours fits inside one month's allowance, so a reader who finishes one book a month gets the best value from the base plan. Someone who listens on a long daily commute in Karachi or Lahore will burn through 15 hours in about two weeks and may find buying individual titles cheaper than repeated top-ups.
What the app does
Spotify has added a separate Audiobooks section to the app for browsing and search. The features that come with it:
- Bookmarks save your place automatically.
- Sleep timer stops playback after a set time.
- Page Match lets you switch between a printed or e-book copy and the audio version and pick up at the same point.
- Offline downloads, with progress synced across your phone, laptop and other devices.
The catalogue is English only for now. There is no word yet on Urdu titles.
Part of a 180-market rollout
Pakistan is one of the markets in an international expansion Spotify announced at the Frankfurt Book Fair on 7 October. ProPakistani reported at the time that Pakistan would get the service before the end of the year. Spotify says it wants audiobooks available in more than 180 markets by the end of 2026.
Owen Smith, Spotify's vice-president for audiobooks, said many people use audiobooks to get back into reading "on the commute, on a walk, or at the end of a long day". The company says monthly audiobook listeners have grown by nearly 40% in a year and that Audiobooks+ has passed one million subscribers worldwide.
How to start
- Update the Spotify app on your phone.

- Pick a title, then either subscribe to Audiobooks+ or buy that one book.
Subscriptions paid through card or wallet are charged in rupees. If you pay for apps with mobile balance, check how much of each recharge goes in tax with our mobile load tax calculator.
