Apple has launched its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, and it is the most expensive MacBook ever. The 14-inch model starts at $2,899 and the 16-inch at $3,399 in the US, TechCrunch reported, and a fully loaded 16-inch costs about $14,549. Pre-orders open on 30 October and the laptops go on sale on 6 November.
Touchscreen MacBook Pro price in rupees

What is new
- Touch screen: a "PROLED XDR" OLED display with 2,000 nits peak brightness and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The notch is replaced by a Dynamic Island-style cut-out.
- A steadier hinge, built so the screen does not wobble when touched, which also keeps the camera still on video calls.
- Chips: M5 Pro or M5 Max (the top M5 Max has an 18-core CPU and 40-core GPU).
- Up to 128GB memory and 16TB storage.
Why it costs so much
Upgrades drive the top price: 16TB of storage adds $7,000, 128GB of memory adds $2,000 and nano-texture glass adds $150. The fully specced 16-inch is $4,400 more than the previous MacBook Pro's ceiling of $10,149, TechCrunch reported, blaming partly the global memory shortage and AI-driven demand for chips.
Apple unveiled a standard MacBook Pro with the M6 chip a day earlier, starting at $1,999, which stays the cheaper choice for most buyers.
Apple once added touch to the MacBook Pro through the Touch Bar strip in 2016 before dropping it. This is the first time the whole screen responds to a finger.
