Google AI Plus may lose Gemini Pro model choice from 13 November: what changes for $4.99 (about Rs 1,382) subscribers
A Google One notice says AI Plus subscribers may no longer be able to pick Pro models in the Gemini app or AI Mode in Search. Flash and Flash-Lite stay, and old Pro chats remain readable.
Google has told Google AI Plus subscribers that it "may remove access" to Gemini's Pro models on 13 November 2026, according to a Google One notice published by Droid Life and reported by ProPakistani. The date is not final: an earlier reported deadline of 9 October passed with no change.
What changes
- Plus subscribers would no longer be able to choose a Pro model manually in the Gemini app or in AI Mode in Google Search.
- Flash and Flash-Lite models stay on the Plus plan.
- Existing chats that used a Pro model remain accessible, but you would continue them with a different model.
- Google AI Pro and higher tiers keep Pro model access.
The Plus subscription itself, with its storage and credits, continues.
The two plans compared
US prices as listed on 16 October 2026, with a rupee guide at today's interbank rate of Rs 276.91 to the dollar (live dollar rate):
| Plan | Monthly price | In rupees (approx.) | Usage vs free | Storage | Flow credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 | Rs 1,382 | 2x | 400 GB | 200 |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | Rs 5,535 | 4x | 5 TB | 1,000 |
Keeping Pro access would mean paying $15 more a month, about Rs 4,154 before any bank or tax charges. Prices Google shows in Pakistan can differ from US prices, so check the Google One app before you change plan.
What to do
- Wait for the date. The change has slipped once already. Google's notice says "may", so nothing changes today.
- Check what you actually use. If most of your Gemini use is quick questions, writing help or summaries, Flash may be all you need.
- Save important Pro chats. They stay readable, but if you rely on the exact model for a long project, export or copy key outputs before 13 November.
- Know the card cost. Paying for a foreign subscription with a Pakistani card adds bank conversion charges and taxes on top of the dollar price. Our currency converter gives the base rupee amount.
ProPakistani's headline called it a severe downgrade. As the notice is written, the change is narrower: it removes the option to choose Pro models on the cheaper plan, not the plan itself.
