Zindigi Overseas Account: open a JS Bank IBAN from abroad with a foreign WhatsApp number
No Pakistani SIM and no branch visit: NICOP, POC and CNIC holders can sign up from abroad and choose a repatriable or non-repatriable account. Who qualifies and what it is for.

Zindigi, the digital bank app of JS Bank, has launched Zindigi Overseas Accounts, which let Pakistanis living abroad open a Pakistani bank account entirely online using their international WhatsApp number, with no Pakistani SIM and no branch visit, ProPakistani reported on Tuesday, 3 November 2026.
That matters because the Pakistani SIM has long been the snag. Most digital banking here verifies you through a local number registered in your name, and many overseas Pakistanis in the Gulf, the UK and Europe let theirs lapse years ago.
What you get
- A full bank account with an IBAN, not a mobile wallet, so it can receive transfers from any Pakistani bank and from abroad.
- Use through the Zindigi app for paying utility bills, sending money to family, household expenses and local transfers.
- A choice of two account types (below).
Who can open one
The digital sign-up is for eligible holders of a:
- NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis)
- POC (Pakistan Origin Card)
- CNIC
If your NICOP has expired, renew it first; our NADRA fee calculator shows what that costs.
Repatriable or non-repatriable
Zindigi offers both, "depending on their financial needs and applicable regulatory requirements":
| Account | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| NRAR (Non-Resident Account Repatriable) | Money can be sent back out of Pakistan, subject to State Bank rules. Suits savings you may want to move abroad later. |
| NRAN (Non-Resident Account Non-Repatriable) | Money stays in Pakistan. Suits paying family expenses, bills and rent here. |
ProPakistani's report did not give fees, minimum balances or profit rates, so check those in the app before you move a large amount.
How it compares with Roshan Digital
The State Bank's Roshan Digital Account already lets non-resident Pakistanis open accounts online at most big banks and invest in Naya Pakistan Certificates, property and the stock market. Zindigi's pitch is speed and the WhatsApp sign-up for everyday spending at home. If you mainly want to send money to parents and pay their electricity bill each month, the simpler account may be enough; if you want to invest, Roshan Digital offers more.
Before you send money, compare what you get per dirham, riyal or pound on our UAE dirham, Saudi riyal and pound rate pages, or with the currency converter.
"At Zindigi, our vision is to make banking simpler, more accessible, and truly borderless for every Pakistani," said Noman Azhar, co-founder and chief officer of Zindigi by JS Bank.
