Pakistan out of the Women's U19 T20 tri-series after six-wicket loss to Sri Lanka in Faisalabad
Pakistan made 105 for 8 at Iqbal Stadium and Sri Lanka knocked it off in 13.3 overs. It was the hosts' fifth defeat in six games.
Pakistan were knocked out of the Women's U19 T20 tri-series in Faisalabad on Monday, 12 October, when Sri Lanka beat them by six wickets in the eighth match of the event at Iqbal Stadium, the Pakistan Cricket Board and Geo Super reported. Bangladesh are the third team in the series.
It was Pakistan's fifth defeat in six matches. Their only win came against Sri Lanka on 3 October.
The scores
- Pakistan: 105 for 8 in 20 overs. The top score was an unbeaten 24 off 18 balls from a lower-order batter, with two sixes, and no one else passed 20.
- Sri Lanka: 109 for 4 in 13.3 overs. Their opener made 46 off 28 balls with five fours and two sixes, and the chase was finished with 39 balls to spare.
- Best bowling: Sri Lanka's leading bowler took 3 for 14 in two overs; Pakistan's wickets were shared by two bowlers with one each.
We are not naming the players because some members of an under-19 squad are minors.
What went wrong
Pakistan's top order again failed to get a start. The openers made 12 and 14, and the middle order added single figures. A total of 105 left the bowlers little to defend, and Sri Lanka's opener took the game away early.
What's next
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh play on for the title. The tournament is being streamed live on Tapmad in Pakistan.
