Petrol price cut Rs 3.63 to Rs 390.23 from today, diesel up 31 paisa to Rs 396.96
The new rates took effect on Friday 16 October. A 40-litre petrol tank now costs Rs 15,609, about Rs 145 less than yesterday, while diesel users pay slightly more.

The petrol price in Pakistan today is Rs 390.23 a litre, down Rs 3.63 from Rs 393.86, after the government notified new fuel prices effective Friday 16 October 2026. High-speed diesel (HSD) went the other way, rising 31 paisa to Rs 396.96 a litre from Rs 396.65, Dawn reported on Thursday night, citing the Petroleum Division's notification. ARY News carried the same figures and attributed the notice to OGRA.

The old prices are worked out from the announced change; neither report gave a figure for kerosene or light diesel oil.
What it means for you
Using the notified retail price of Rs 390.23:
- Motorcycle, 10 litres: Rs 3,902, about Rs 36 less than yesterday.
- Small car, 35 litres: Rs 13,658, about Rs 127 less.
- 40-litre tank: Rs 15,609, about Rs 145 less.
For diesel, a 40-litre fill now costs Rs 15,878, Rs 12 more than on Thursday. Transporters and farmers on tractors feel diesel first, so the small rise does little for goods fares, and the gap between diesel and petrol is now Rs 6.73 a litre.

Why prices keep moving
Prices have been set daily since 17 July, when the cabinet handed the job to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority to follow international prices, Dawn noted. They climbed after the US-Iran war began on 28 February and peaked on 3 April at Rs 458.41 for petrol and Rs 520.35 for diesel, so petrol is now about Rs 68 a litre cheaper than that high. The government still collects about Rs 114 a litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs 100 on diesel, according to Dawn.
Oil markets remain jumpy. Brent crude was trading around $105.5 a barrel on Friday morning, down 0.4%, as traders weighed reports that Washington may ease sanctions on some tankers, Business Recorder reported. Ships in the Strait of Hormuz are still being hit, and with prices now set daily, another move in either direction can come within days.
Track the price every day
Our petrol price page and diesel price page record PSO's ex-depot Karachi price each day with its history, so you can see how far prices have come down since April. Pump prices in your city can differ slightly from the notified rate because of freight margins.
