Dawn and ProPakistani carried the same figures; ProPakistani called it the biggest relief since August.

Why prices change every day now
Since 17 July the government has notified petrol and diesel prices daily instead of weekly or fortnightly, because the US-Iran conflict has made world oil prices swing sharply, the Express Tribune noted. Brent crude was trading around $110 a barrel on Monday, close to a five-month high, after new Houthi attacks on Saudi energy sites and a tanker blast in the Strait of Hormuz. A drop of a few dollars a barrel can now reach Pakistani pumps within a day, and so can a rise.
That means today's price is not fixed for the fortnight. Check the petrol price page before a long trip; it updates each morning.
The Rs 100 relief is separate
The targeted scheme announced on 13 September, which takes Rs 100 off a litre for registered motorcycles, rickshaws and cars up to 800cc, runs on top of the pump price. It covers 20 litres a month for two- and three-wheelers and 30 litres for small cars. Our explainer on the Rs 100 a litre petrol relief explains who qualifies and how to claim.
Shop closing times of 9pm and other fuel-saving measures from 17 September also remain in place.
