One person was killed and seven injured on Tuesday, 27 October, when the roof of an under-construction plaza collapsed on Multan's Northern Bypass, near the National College of Business Administration and Economics (NCBA&E), Rescue 1122 said.

Eight labourers were working on the site, a rescue official told Dawn. Rescuers said they could not rule out someone still being trapped until all the debris was cleared.

Rescue and hospital

  • Rescue 1122 said its teams arrived within three minutes and started searching the rubble.
  • Ten vehicles were sent: five ambulances, three rescue motorbikes, a rescue vehicle and a fire vehicle.
  • Nishtar Hospital said it received one body and six injured: three with head injuries and three with minor injuries. Rescue 1122's count was seven injured.
  • Doctors and paramedics in Nishtar's emergency were put on alert, and a Rescue 1122 team will stay at the site until the salvage operation ends.

The cause of the collapse has not been stated, and no inquiry had been announced by Tuesday evening.
