Brewers win the World Series for the first time, beating Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to take the series 4-1
Milwaukee's first title in 57 years as a franchise: Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings and rookie Cooper Pratt drove in two at Tropicana Field.

The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time in their history. They beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 at Tropicana Field on Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Pakistan) to win the series 4 games to 1, CBS News reported.
How Game 5 was won
- Jacob Misiorowski pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed two hits before leaving with a cramp in his right calf.
- JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill closed it out; Megill got the final out on a ground ball from Richie Palacios.
- Cooper Pratt had two hits and two RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and William Contreras added an RBI double in the same inning.
"It's the best feeling ever," said Christian Yelich, the longest-serving star of the side.
Records in the series
- Pratt, a 22-year-old rookie, set a World Series rookie record with six hits in a row.
- Jackson Chourio set a record for a five-game World Series with 11 hits.
- The Rays had kept the series alive by winning Game 4 4-3 in 12 innings, after the Brewers won the first three games (our Game 3 story).
A first for Milwaukee, another miss for Tampa Bay
The Brewers joined the major leagues as an expansion club 57 years ago and had reached the World Series only once before, losing to the St Louis Cardinals in seven games in 1982. They got here this year by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 in the National League Championship Series (our story).
Manager Pat Murphy, 67, who survived a heart attack in 2020 and was National League Manager of the Year in 2024 and 2025, now has a ring. The Rays, still chasing their first title, are 0-3 in World Series appearances.
For readers in Pakistan, World Series night games start around 5am PKT; with baseball now over until spring, the American sports calendar moves to the NFL and the NBA.
