Brewers sweep Dodgers 4-0 to reach the World Series for the first time since 1982
Garrett Mitchell and David Hamilton homered as Milwaukee came from 4-0 down to win Game 4 6-4 and knock out the two-time champions. The World Series starts on 23 October.

The Milwaukee Brewers are in the World Series for the first time since 1982. They beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series in Los Angeles on Thursday 15 October, completing a 4-0 sweep of the two-time defending champions, the Associated Press reported. The World Series starts on Friday 23 October (US date) against the winner of the American League series between Cleveland and Tampa Bay.
It is a straight reversal of last year, when the Dodgers swept Milwaukee in the same round on their way to a second title in a row.
How the Brewers won Game 4
The Dodgers led 4-0 early. Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run in the second inning, his first of this postseason, and Tyler Glasnow retired the first 10 Brewers he faced.
Milwaukee came back piece by piece:
- Fourth inning: Brice Turang walked, then William Contreras and Jake Bauers hit ground-rule doubles to make it 4-2.
- Fifth inning: Glasnow left after a single by David Hamilton, and the Brewers tied it 4-4 on bullpen walks, two stolen bases and a bases-loaded walk issued by Alex Vesia.
- Sixth inning: Garrett Mitchell led off with a 409-foot home run off Tanner Scott for a 5-4 lead.
- Ninth inning: Hamilton, batting ninth and with four home runs all regular season, hit a two-out solo shot off Edwin Diaz for the 6-4 final.
Milwaukee's bullpen did the rest. JoJo Romero struck out Max Muncy with the game on the line in the sixth, and Aaron Ashby pitched the last three innings for the save, striking out Ohtani along the way. The crowd was 49,104.
