Harry Kane signs Bayern Munich extension until 2029 days after winning the Ballon d'Or
The England captain has 156 goals in 161 games for Bayern and says he wants to win more titles in Munich.
Harry Kane has signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich that runs until 30 June 2029, the Bundesliga club said on Thursday, according to Business Recorder (reporting from Reuters).
The England captain, now 33, joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023. He has scored 156 goals in 161 appearances in all competitions for the club and has won two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cups.
Ballon d'Or last week
The extension comes days after Kane won the Ballon d'Or. He is the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001.
What Kane said
In a statement released by the club, Kane said: "I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager." He added that his family is very happy in Munich, that he was keen to stay, and that he wants to win many more titles with the club.
Why it matters
Kane has been linked with a return to the Premier League in the past, and this deal ends that talk for at least the next two and a half years. Bayern keep the league's most productive striker through the 2028-29 season. ARY News also carried the announcement.
