iPhone Duo sold out and Apple can't say when more arrive: iPhone sales up 17% to $57 billion
New Apple chief John Ternus says the $1,999 foldable sold out within days. iPhone and Mac sales hit records, but chip and memory shortages will last into next year.

Apple's first foldable iPhone, the $1,999 iPhone Duo, has sold out, and the company cannot say when more will be available, Reuters reported through the BBC after Apple's results call on Monday 2 November 2026. "At this time, it's really hard to predict when supply and demand will be in balance," chief operating officer Sabih Khan told analysts.
John Ternus, who took over as chief executive from Tim Cook in September, said he was "thrilled" with the early response to the Duo, which went on sale toward the end of October.
Apple's numbers for the quarter to 26 September
| Sales | Change | |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | $57 billion | up 17% |
| Mac | $10.7 billion | up 27%, a record |
| iPad | down 10% | |
| Wearables (Watch, AirPods) | down 7% | |
| Full year | $479 billion | up 15% |
Apple said it sold more iPhones in the last year than ever before. The quarter did not include any iPhone Duo sales.
Shortages and price rises
- Chips: Khan said most Apple devices are still short of supply because the company cannot get enough processors built on advanced manufacturing nodes, most of them made by TSMC in Taiwan. He expects this to continue into next year, hitting iPads and Macs most.
- Memory: Ternus said Apple faces "unprecedented" increases in memory costs, as AI data centres soak up supply. Apple has raised prices on almost all its hardware by about 20% this year.
- Cracked screens: last week Apple said it will replace Duos affected by a problem that made a "small number" crack along the inside fold. Executives did not raise it on Monday's call.
What it means for buyers in Pakistan
Apple does not sell directly in Pakistan; iPhones come through authorised resellers and private importers. With the Duo short worldwide, expect few official units here soon, and treat any "Duo in stock" offer at a low price with suspicion. A $1,999 phone is about Rs 553,000 at today's dollar rate of Rs 276.72, before PTA registration tax and import costs. Our PTA mobile tax calculator shows the tax on any phone you bring in.
