Asim Munir, Saudi defence minister and Turkish intelligence chief to meet Iranian officials in Tehran today
Reuters reports that the three Makkah Pact countries are sending top officials to Tehran on Monday to discuss regional coordination as US-Iran tension rises.

Pakistan's army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is due in Tehran on Monday 26 October 2026 with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and Turkiye's intelligence chief for talks with Iranian officials on regional coordination, Reuters reported, citing two people with knowledge of the plan. Business Recorder carried the Reuters report.
Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan are the members of what Reuters called the Makkah Pact. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity, and none of the four governments had announced the meeting at the time of writing.
Who is going
| Country | Representative |
|---|---|
| Pakistan | Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff |
| Saudi Arabia | Prince Khalid bin Salman, Defence Minister |
| Turkiye | Head of intelligence |
| Iran | Iranian officials (not named) |
Why now
The visit comes at a tense moment. Over the weekend US President Donald Trump said the US could strike Iran or reach a deal, and on Monday Brent crude was trading near a six-month high, around $114 a barrel, after he said it was "getting to be decision time" on Iran, CoinDesk noted.
Pakistan shares a long border with Iran. Iran said on Sunday that the border was open and LPG exports were not restricted, Geo News reported, after crossings were shut for about a week earlier this month.
What it means for Pakistan
Any war involving Iran would hit Pakistan directly: through fuel prices, the border trade in Balochistan, and the safety of the millions of Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Oil near $114 already feeds into what you pay at the pump: see the petrol price page and the diesel price page, and work out what a month of driving costs with the fuel cost calculator.
We will update this story when the governments confirm the talks or what was agreed.
