Saudi Arabia will raise electricity, water and wastewater charges from 1 January 2027: homes will pay 21 halalas per kilowatt-hour for the first 6,000 units a month, up from 18, and 33 halalas above that, up from 30, the Saudi Electricity Company and the National Water Company announced, as ARY News reported citing the Saudi Gazette. At today's rate of Rs 73.82 a riyal on our riyal rate page, 21 halalas is about Rs 15.50 a unit (our arithmetic). The change comes alongside royal directives to support employees in the military, government and private sectors.

For Pakistanis working in the kingdom, a higher bill leaves less to send home. If you send money to Pakistan, the currency converter turns riyals into rupees at today's rate, and our electricity bill calculator does the same sum for a bill back home.
