Islamabad Police jobs 2026: eligibility, height, age, test stages and how to apply

Islamabad Police jobs 2026: no recruitment is open on the official ICT Police jobs page as of 27 October 2026. The page at islamabadpolice.gov.pk/job.php reads "No job openings available at the moment". The force ran two big drives this year (1,712 posts in June and 1,624 executive posts in August, both now closed), so this guide sets out what the next advertisement is likely to ask for, based on those two rounds, and how to be ready on the day it opens.

Who can apply

Islamabad Police recruits from all over Pakistan, not only Islamabad. Seats are shared under the federal government's provincial and regional quota (open merit, ICT, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, former FATA, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan), with separate seats for women and minorities in some categories.

The 2026 advertisements set these standards:

1. Age: 18 to 25 years for constable, ASI and SI. Check your exact age on the closing date with our age calculator; a candidate who turns 26 a day before the closing date is out unless the advertisement gives a relaxation.
2. Education: Matric or equivalent for constable; BA, BSc or equivalent from a recognised university for ASI and SI.
3. Height: at least 5 feet 7 inches for men and 5 feet 2 inches for women.
4. Chest (men): 33 inches, expanding to 34.5 inches.
5. Domicile: an original domicile certificate, which decides which provincial quota you compete in.

Transgender persons could apply in June 2026 according to the gender on their CNIC, and government employees had to apply through proper channels.

How the selection works

Executive posts (constable, ASI, SI):

1. Physical measurement: height and chest are checked first, with originals of your documents.
2. Endurance run: in the August round, one mile in 7 minutes for men and 10 minutes for women. The June constable advertisement, as Daily Pakistan reported it, asked for 1.5 miles in 10.5 minutes for men and 15 minutes for women. The distance and time can change from one advertisement to the next, so train for the longer run.
3. Written or computer-based test.
4. Interview.
5. Final checks: document verification, character (police) verification and a medical examination.

Ministerial posts (assistant, stenotypist, data entry operator, UDC, LDC): a computer-based test and a skill test (typing speed for stenotypist and data entry), then an interview.

How to apply when the next advertisement opens

1. Watch the official pages. Islamabad Police lists recruitment on islamabadpolice.gov.pk/job.php. Federal jobs also appear on the National Jobs Portal (njp.gov.pk).
2. Open the advertisement and read the criteria for your post. Each post has its own age, education and physical standards.
3. Fill in the online form on the portal the advertisement names. In June 2026 applications were taken only online, through islamabadpolice.gov.pk and npftas.pk; forms sent by hand, courier or email were rejected.
4. Generate the fee challan (a 24-digit PSID in June 2026) and pay it through 1Link 1Bill at a bank, ATM, internet banking, Easypaisa or JazzCash. A separate fee is due for each post, and it is not refunded.
5. Submit before the closing date and keep the form and payment receipt.
6. Keep your mobile number active. Test dates and roll number slips are sent by SMS, email and on the portal.

Documents to keep ready

• NADRA CNIC (check what a renewal costs with our NADRA fee calculator if yours is near expiry)
• Matric, Intermediate and degree certificates
• Domicile certificate
• Two passport-size photos with a blue background
• For the minority quota, an affidavit countersigned by the Deputy Commissioner

Hard copies are not needed when you apply online, but originals are checked at the physical test and the interview.

Pay

A constable joins in BS-07, an ASI in BS-11 and an SI in BS-14, on the federal pay scales plus police allowances. Common mistakes

• Applying through an agent or a "jobs" website. Apply only on the portal named in the official advertisement.
• Wrong domicile quota. Your seat depends on your domicile, not where you live.
• Missing the run time. Many candidates fail the endurance test, not the written one. Practise the full distance in the time set.
• Hiding a criminal case. False information or a concealed record cancels the application and can lead to legal action.
• Changing your mobile network after applying. Updates go to the number you gave.
