Sri Lanka made 325 for 8 after Kamindu Mendis scored 131 off 128 balls, his first one-day international century.
Babar Azam was out for a duck off five balls, the most searched cricket name in Pakistan this evening, as Pakistan slipped to 14 for 2 in the fourth over.
How Sri Lanka got to 325
Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and chose to bowl. Sri Lanka were 51 without loss after the first powerplay and 238 for 2 after 40 overs, according to ESPNcricinfo's scorecard.
- Kamindu Mendis 131 (128 balls): he reached his hundred in the 34th over and was out lbw to Shaheen in the 42nd, Dawn reported.
- Pavan Rathnayake: a 47-ball fifty and a 146-run third-wicket stand with Kamindu before he was caught by Babar off Haris Rauf.
- Salman Ali Agha took the only two wickets before the last 10 overs: Avishka Fernando lbw and Kusal Mendis caught and bowled.
- The fightback: Pakistan took six wickets for 87 in the final 10 overs. Shaheen removed Dasun Shanaka (17 off 9), Naseem Shah got Janith Liyanage, and Rauf and Naseem took Dunith Wellalage and Sahan Arachchige in quick succession.
Team changes
Faheem Ashraf replaced Shadab Khan, ruled out on medical grounds after being hit by a bouncer in the fifth match. Shadab's unbeaten 113 and the record last-wicket stand earlier in the series were what put Pakistan in this final. Sri Lanka brought in Maheesh Theekshana for Eshan Malinga.
What Pakistan need
The chase is on a ground where Pakistan were bowled out for 110 by these same opponents four days ago, when Dilshan Madushanka took 5 for 34. The second session runs until about 8:30pm PKT, so the result should be known by late evening.
