Shadab Khan's 113 not out and a record 89-run last-wicket stand take Pakistan into tri-series final

At 154 for 9 chasing 242, Pakistan looked beaten. Shadab Khan's maiden ODI hundred and Haris Rauf's 18-ball vigil turned it into the best last-wicket rescue in a successful ODI chase.

Pakistan beat England by one wicket at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday 25 October 2026, and are through to the ODI tri-series final on Saturday 31 October. Chasing 242, Pakistan were 154 for 9 when Haris Rauf walked out to join Shadab Khan. The pair added an unbeaten 89 for the tenth wicket, and Shadab finished on 113 not out off 96 balls (13 fours, five sixes), his maiden ODI century, as Pakistan reached 243 for 9 in 47.1 overs, Dawn reported.

Dawn says the stand is the highest for the tenth wicket in any successful ODI chase, beating the previous best of 64. Rauf's job was simple and brutal: survive. He faced 18 balls and left the scoring to Shadab.

How the chase nearly fell apart

England's new-ball pair struck early. Fakhar Zaman (10), Saim Ayub (6) and Babar Azam (10) were all out inside seven overs. Saad Baig counter-attacked with 32 off 22 balls, but when Arafat Minhas fell for one, Pakistan were 103 for 5 and Shadab, back in the side after missing the first two matches, came in.

Salman Ali Agha (26 off 49) stayed with him for a while, then wickets kept falling at the other end. Jamie Overton took three wickets, and Gus Atkinson and Liam Dawson two each, Business Recorder reported. From there, Shadab farmed the strike, hit the boundaries and got Pakistan home with about 17 balls to spare.

England's 241

Earlier, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi took 4 for 46, and his first-over wicket of Tom Banton was his 150th in ODIs. England were bowled out for 241 in 46.4 overs despite Ben Duckett's 105 off 111 balls, his first ODI hundred against Pakistan. Sam Curran made 42 and Gus Atkinson an unbeaten 36 with three sixes. Debutant left-arm quick Razaullah took two wickets, and Arafat Minhas removed Duckett.
