Bitcoin price falls back to $82,800 (about Rs 2.29 crore) after failing at $84,800
Bitcoin dropped more than $2,000 in six hours as weak Tesla and Lam Research outlooks soured the mood on AI stocks. Traders are watching $82,500.

Bitcoin was trading just under $82,800 on Thursday morning, about Rs 22.9 million (Rs 2.29 crore) at today's dollar rate, after a run at $85,000 failed late on Wednesday, CoinDesk reported. It touched about $84,800, then lost more than $2,000 in roughly six hours to around $82,600.
Our bitcoin price page recorded $82,845 at this morning's reading, down from $84,310 a day earlier, a fall of about 1.7%. At the interbank dollar rate of Rs 276.86, that is roughly Rs 22,936,000 a coin.
Why bitcoin fell
The drop came with a wider sell-off in technology shares after US results on Wednesday evening, according to CoinDesk:
- Tesla fell 3% in after-hours trade after cutting its capital spending forecast.
- Lam Research, which makes chipmaking equipment, dropped 7% on a weak outlook.
- Meta rose 2% after raising its AI spending plans, but that did not lift the mood.
- Nasdaq 100 futures fell 1.1% and S&P 500 futures 0.5%; South Korea's Kospi fell 2.2% and China's CSI 300 1.7%.
- Oil rose on renewed tension in the Middle East.
Bitcoin has been trading like a technology stock this month, so doubts about how much the big companies are spending on AI have spilled into crypto.
