National savings profit rates (قومی بچت) went up again on Wednesday 21 October 2026, three weeks after the 1 October rise. The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) issued a revised schedule that lifts every major scheme except the ordinary Savings Account, Dawn reported this morning. The new rates apply to money invested from today.

The new rates, scheme by scheme

Longer Short Term Savings Certificates now pay up to 11.72%.

Defence Savings Certificates

Defence Savings Certificates are quoted as total profit by the year you cash in, and every step went up:

  • After 6 years: 88% (was 86%)
  • After 7 years: 113% (was 109%)
  • After 8 years: 142% (was 136%)
  • After 9 years: 176% (was 168%)
  • After 10 years: 215% (was 205%)

So Rs 100,000 put in today grows to Rs 315,000 if held for the full ten years, Rs 10,000 more than under the 1 October sheet.

What it means for you

The monthly-income schemes are where most savers sit. On Rs 1 million in Behbood, the monthly payment rises from Rs 10,600 to Rs 10,800. On Rs 1 million in a Regular Income Certificate it rises from Rs 9,800 to Rs 10,100, before tax.

This is the second increase in a row. CDNS cut rates on 4 September, raised them on 1 October and has now raised them again, following the climb in market interest rates. Track the benchmark on our KIBOR page and the SBP policy rate page.

The new rates are for new investments. Before you cash in an older certificate to reinvest at the higher rate, ask your National Savings Centre what breaking it early would cost; on a long-term certificate the penalty can wipe out the gain.

Tax

Dawn reports withholding tax on the profit of 15% for filers and 30% for non-filers, with Zakat deducted where the rules require it. Behbood, PBA and SFWA are treated more lightly: our National Savings profit rates guide explains how, scheme by scheme.

Work out your own figure

Put your amount into our National Savings calculator, and compare every scheme side by side on the National Savings comparison page. The CDNS rate sheets are posted at savings.gov.pk; at the time of writing the site still showed the 1 October sheets.
