Petrol will cost Rs 374.51 a litre and high-speed diesel Rs 395.20 a litre from Tuesday, 3 November 2026, after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) cut both prices on Monday night. Petrol is down Rs 3.40 from Rs 377.91 and diesel is down Rs 7.76 from Rs 402.96, the first cut to either fuel since October, as reported by Business Recorder and Dawn.

OGRA's release covered petrol and diesel. Kerosene and light diesel oil were not part of the figures reported on Monday night.

What the cut saves you

Worked out on the OGRA-notified prices above:

  • A 40-litre car tank of petrol now costs about Rs 14,980, down from Rs 15,116: a saving of Rs 136 a fill.
  • A 10-litre motorcycle fill drops from about Rs 3,779 to Rs 3,745, Rs 34 less.
  • A 200-litre diesel fill for a truck or tractor drops by about Rs 1,552, which matters more for freight and farm costs than the petrol cut does for households.

Why prices came down

Oil fell sharply on Monday. Brent dropped about 6% to $106.65 a barrel and WTI to $97.75, Business Recorder reported, as talks between Iranian and Qatari officials on ending the US-Israeli war with Iran raised hopes of fewer supply disruptions in the Gulf.

The cut follows the arrangement announced earlier on Monday, under which refineries carry a burden of about Rs 15 billion a month so that a Rs 15 a litre rise that was due on Friday did not reach the pump. We covered that in refineries to absorb Rs 15 a litre on petrol. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said at a press conference in Islamabad that the refineries "helped the government" hold the price, Dawn reported.

Still below the April peak

Petrol peaked at Rs 458.41 and diesel at Rs 520.35 on 3 April, according to Dawn, so both are well below that high, though still at levels that keep transport fares and school van charges up across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi.

What comes next

  • The petroleum levy is unchanged in Monday's figures. Jamaat-e-Islami has said it will march on Islamabad in mid-November if no major relief on the levy is announced, Dawn reported.
  • The next regular review is due in mid-November. Diesel's bigger cut can feed into goods transport and wheat sowing costs if it holds.
  • Transporters often keep fares unchanged after small cuts. A Rs 3.40 drop is unlikely to change rickshaw or Careem fares on its own.
