US clocks go back on 1 November: New York now 10 hours behind Pakistan, London 5

Clocks in the United States go back one hour at 2am local time on Sunday 1 November 2026, when daylight saving time ends, Fox 5 New York reported. Pakistan does not change its clocks, so from Sunday the gap between Pakistan Standard Time (PKT) and most of America grows by an hour: New York goes from 9 hours behind Pakistan to 10, and California from 12 to 13.

Britain and the European Union already put their clocks back last Sunday, 25 October, so the UK is now 5 hours behind PKT (it was 4 over the summer).

Time difference with Pakistan from 1 November

Hawaii, most of Arizona and the US territories (Puerto Rico, Guam and others) do not use daylight saving time, so their gap with Pakistan stays the same. Canada's big cities change on the same night as the US.

What it changes for you in Pakistan

• Calls home: a 9pm call from Lahore now reaches family in New Jersey at 11am, not noon. Gulf times do not change, since the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar never move their clocks.
• Wall Street: the New York Stock Exchange opens at 9:30am Eastern, which is 7:30pm PKT from Monday 2 November (6:30pm until now) and closes at 2am PKT. Crypto traders watching US data releases (8:30am Eastern) should now look at 6:30pm PKT.
• US sport: NFL Sunday early games (1pm Eastern) now start at 11pm PKT, NBA evening tip-offs at 7:30pm Eastern land at 5:30am PKT, and UFC main cards in Las Vegas start an hour later on Pakistani clocks.
• Remote and freelance work: if you work US hours from Pakistan, your shift moves an hour later. A 9am to 5pm Eastern day is now 7pm to 3am PKT. Our overtime calculator helps if your contract pays for night hours.
• US elections: the midterm polls on Tuesday 3 November close from 4am PKT on Wednesday on the East Coast.

When the gap shrinks again

The US moves its clocks forward again on Sunday 14 March 2027, and the UK and EU on the last Sunday of March. Until then, the winter gaps above apply. Pakistan last used daylight saving time in 2009 and has stayed on UTC+5 all year since.
