Daylight saving time ends in the US: Pakistan is now 10 hours ahead of New York and 13 of Los Angeles

Daylight saving time ended in the United States at 2am local time on Sunday 1 November 2026, so Pakistan is now 10 hours ahead of New York and 13 hours ahead of Los Angeles, one hour more than last week. Clocks in most of the US went back from 2am to 1am, Fox News stations reported. Pakistan does not change its clocks, so every US time you convert to PKT now lands an hour later than it did in October.

The UK and the European Union moved back a week earlier, on Sunday 25 October, so London is again 5 hours behind Pakistan.

The Gulf does not use daylight saving: Dubai stays 1 hour behind Pakistan and Riyadh 2 hours behind. Hawaii and most of Arizona also keep the same clocks all year.

What changes for you in Pakistan

• Calling family in the US: a call at 9pm PKT now reaches New York at 11am, not noon. Evening in Karachi or Lahore is the US morning; a call before 8am PKT catches the East Coast the previous night at 10pm.
• Wall Street: the New York Stock Exchange now opens at 7:30pm PKT and closes at 2am PKT (it was 6:30pm and 1am). Anyone trading US shares or watching how US markets move bitcoin should shift their alerts by an hour. Bitcoin in rupees is on our bitcoin price page.
• US midterm elections: election day is Tuesday 3 November, and with the clocks back, the first results come in from about 4am PKT on Wednesday. Our US midterm elections 2026 guide has the full timeline.
• Sport: an NFL game at 1pm Eastern on Sunday now starts at 11pm PKT, and an NBA game at 7:30pm Eastern tips off at 5:30am PKT the next day. Premier League matches moved an hour later in PKT last week, when the UK changed: a 3pm UK kick-off is now 8pm PKT.
• Online work and freelancing: if you work for US clients, a 9am-to-5pm Eastern shift now runs from 7pm to 3am PKT. When the clocks change again

The US moves its clocks forward again on Sunday 14 March 2027 at 2am local time, when New York goes back to being 9 hours behind Pakistan. The UK follows on the last Sunday of March. Until then, the table above holds.

Pakistan itself has not used daylight saving since 2009, when it last tried moving clocks forward an hour in summer to save electricity.
